Barbells
Straight Barbells
These are most often seen in the following piercings: nipple piercings, in industrial ear piercings, occasionally in other ear cartilage piercings and in tongue piercings.
Based on user preferences, you may be able to use a barbell piercing in the septum, or some surface piercings (an example would be the bridge of the nose), provided they are flexible
Curved Barbells
Curved Barbells are most often seen in a large spectrum of piercings, some of those include the following: piercings in connective tissues, madison piercings, septum piercings, oral piercings of tongue web, eyebrow, ear cartilage piercings and navel or nipple piercings. They vary slightly if worn in the navel as it will generally be what is commonly referred to as a “banana-bell”, meaning it has a larger bottom and a smaller top. When worn in the navel you might find that they are adorned with dangling decoration.
Spiral and Wave Barbells
Sometimes you can find a industrial barbell that is professionally bent or made wavy. This generally serves no purpose other than it is visually appealing except in cases where it improves the fit. You will find these pieces of body jewelry in piercings located on the ear, navel or lips.
Stud Body Jewelry
Also known as straight posts, they are common in tragus piercings, , in almost all piercings of the ear as well as in labret/monroe style piercings. Some of the ear piercings that work well with studs are bites, tragus, forward helix piercings, lowbrets and medusas.
Circulars
Captive Rings
These styles can be worn almost anywhere and generally universal, pieces of jewelry also known as bead or ball captive rings that can even be found in smaller segments. For the most part it is simply a ring that has either a ball or charm at the end, there might alor just be a bent end, all of these just are used to hold the body jewelry in place. These are most often seen in piercings of the , corset, nipples, ears and septum.
Horseshoe Rings
As the name implies, these are round and shapes a lot like a horseshoe. Much like captive rings, the ends may have either a charm, a ball or a bend.
Lippy Loops
These are a type of body jewelry that is staple shaped and rounded. They have ends adorned with decorations. They are worn in the lip and specifically designed to display both ends.
Shields
These are generally only seen in piercings. They are just a barbell that is designed to be larger than normal and the center contains a open center. If used in the a curved bar is used and the shield is attached to that. However sometimes, it is made to slide directly over the straight part.
Large Gauge Body Jewelry
Plugs
Are cylinder shaped and solid throughout, they may be found with the following variations: Double flair Single flare and Shaped. The shapes can vary but hearts teardrops are common.
Tunnels
Much the same as plugs, tunnels are often found to be either Shaped, Single or double flared. The main difference is a hollow center which allows you to see through it.
Tapers
There are many different styles of tapers, but they are all intended to be worn with the thickest part in direct contact with the piercing. They get gradually thinner from one end to the other. The most common styles of tapers are: Buffalo curve, super spiral, spiral, curved, hanger style and straight. These come in many types, including straight, curved, buffalo curve, spiral, super spiral, and hanger style.
